The Goa Carnival attracts many tourists and people from all over the world. This festival was started in 1961 by the Portuguese, who ruled over Goa for 500 years. The meaning of Carnival is derived from the Latin word meaning “to throw away meat”. The carnival was first celebrated by the legendary KING MOMO. The Features of “GOAN CARNIVAL” is fun frolic, singing, dancing, feasting and merrymaking etc. before the 40 days abstinence period of lent before Easter.
